Kudumbashree has decided to launch a new project called ‘Care Giver Senior Citizens’ to assist elderly people who are staying alone at home. Those facing difficulty in giving proper care for elderly members in their home can seek the help of Kudumbashree caregivers. Kudumbashree members are attending a special training programme to implement the project. People above 60 years who are left alone at home will get the assistance of Kudumbashree.
The caregivers will help the elderly to venture out for various needs including shopping and banking. The project will come into force from December. A maximum number of 1,000 Kudumbashree members will be appointed as caregivers. A call cetnre and monitoring cetnre will be opened in ditsrict levels. One can avail the service of caregiver through call cetnres in every ditsrict. Kudumbashree will charge a fixed amount for the service to give the salary to caregivers.
